Putahracsa Hua Hin, Thailand - Hotel review

A serene and tranquil stay in the country of tourist crowds and tuk-tuks

An overview

When I book my holidays, I look for something that clearly represents calm. We had the pleasure of experiencing my kind of calm here at this upscale boutique seafront hotel, Putahracsa, Hua Hin. This stylish hotel is the perfect definition of luxe travel with its 67 modern minimalist villas, 3 swimming pools and 2 restaurants serving delectable food. Putahracsa has enough space to accommodate every need. The 67 sophisticated rooms are divided into two types of villas. For the ones who just can’t stay away from water and like to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean, they have 15 intricately designed beachside villas, divided into four categories: La Canna beachfront pool villas, La Canna pool villas, Oceanbed pool villas and the Oceanbed jacuzzi villas. For those who prefer the green over the blue, they have the Sandside villas decorated with the shadows of tall and lush palm trees. The Sandside villas are divided into the Oasis villas, Sansky deluxe rooms and Sansky urban rooms. Both the clusters have a pool each if you fancy a quick morning dip before grabbing breakfast or if you simply wanna lay under a cabana and get bronze while sipping on a pina colada.

Getting there

We took a four-and-a-half-hour international flight from Delhi, India to Bangkok, Thailand. The quiet and small town of Hua Hin is two and a half hour's drive further south from Bangkok. We took a taxi from Suvarnabhumi airport. The drive from the airport to the hotel is quite scenic but because of an overnight flight, we took a short nap and missed some of it, our driver was too kind and woke us up as soon as the beautiful stretch began, with lush greens on one side of the road, deep blue ocean another and magnificent mountains at a distance, in front of us. Without realising it, soon, we were at the doorstep of the heavenly abode, Putahracsa. There is usually no traffic on this route but I would still suggest travelling on a weekday rather than on the weekend.

Checking in

As soon as we stepped inside their reception, as tired as we were from a long journey, we were handed a refreshing glass of champagne smoothie! The check-in process was very smooth and efficient, just the way we like it. The staff was very helpful and catered to all the needs. I would suggest informing the Hotel beforehand if you have any special needs or allergies so that they can make arrangements beforehand. I had already specified in our booking about my gluten allergy (celiac), so, the staff had a separate gluten-free welcome drink for me. We received the keys to our villa within a few minutes of arriving. A member of the staff guided us to our Oceanbed jacuzzi villa. She gave us a quick tour of the gorgeous villa that was to be our home for the next five days. She explained how the Bluetooth sound speaker and in-villa sound system work and informed us all about the in-room butler services. A few minutes after she left, we were surprised with another batch of complimentary welcome refreshments. This included a set of fresh juices, a small portion of salad and a portion of Gluten-free Bruschetta.

Our room

It was such a delight to stay at Putahracsa in one of their Oceanbed Jacuzzi villas for 4 nights. The door to our villa opened to a massive terrace with a sunbed covered with a cabana, a big sofa, and a cute table right in the corner. The entire terrace is surrounded by trees so you can truly be in nature. The best part about our villa was the mini-fridge. Now, some of you might have gasped after reading this but don’t worry, we didn’t have to pay for it. All the mini-fridge items were complimentary! YES, You read it right, they were all complimentary and all through our stay, the housekeeping staff refilled the mini every morning. The spa bath or the jacuzzi was another one of my favourite things about the ocean villa. To use the jacuzzi, you have to inform the staff 30 mins before so that they can prepare it for you. I spent a whole day just chilling around in the jacuzzi! The wonderful thing about the spa bath is that it is an outdoor spa bath so the best time to lay in the aromatic bath would be during the day, under the sun or during the night, under the starlight.

Every Oceanbed villa comes with a comfortable King-size bed, an LCD TV, complimentary Wi-Fi access, an in-room safety deposit box, a rain shower, an outdoor terrace with a sun lounge and complimentary fresh fruit. Not just that, we also had a huge wardrobe, a big pro for someone like me who overpacks. I absolutely loved the whole concept of our room, the sliding glass door to the bedroom opens to the terrace.

The pools and the spa

I spent most of my time at Putahracsa laying on the sunbed by the pool, so, the pools were definitely my favourite spots. Both pools serve a different kind of vibe. The beachside pool is an enormous infinity pool with stunning views of the ocean. It is also surrounded by a number of cabanas and began bags where you can just lounge and enjoy your favourite cocktails. Another one is in the other part of the property, surrounded by the Sandside rooms. This one is near the gym so if you fancy a dip after your sweaty sesh, then you can make use of this one! Although, my personal fav is the one that has the sea view! It is nearer to the bar plus you can watch the sun go down near that one!

We received a complimentary foot massage at the Putahracsa spa. I mean if you are in Thailand and you didn’t treat yourself to a traditional Thai massage then did you truly visit Thailand? Their spa focuses on natural ingredients to create a striking balance between the effectiveness of the fresh product and the relaxation of the treatments to relax your mind, body and soul. Upon arrival at the spa, we were given herbal tea, it simply relaxes the mind with its aroma and prepares you for the blissful hour! Their masseuses are highly trained professionals. When I came out of that spa room, I felt heavenly! The scent, the music, the aura, the robes, the oils, everything is just so calming.

Dining

Putahracsa has two dining areas. The first one is the oceanside beach club and restaurant, it offers a unique and intriguing barefoot socializing experience while you enjoy a wide range of beachside beverages and food with the view of an endless ocean. Because of the location of this restaurant, it is quite famous in the country. It’s the perfect spot to grab breakfast as you watch the gorgeous sunrise over the horizon. Because of the pretty sunrise and the location of this restaurant, during our 5-day stay, I woke up at 5 every morning, I used to be the very first one to grab breakfast! hehe! This open-air restaurant is the most Instagrammable spot on the entire property! Seating options at the restaurant are in the dining room or bedside. If you are a fan of mirror selfies then this restaurant has a huge mirror behind the dining tables. These tables along the mirror are usually all taken up, so you gotta be an early bird if you want to enjoy your morning meal and the sun from the perfect angle.

If you fancy something sweet, Ob-oon Deli and boulangerie- patisserie is the perfect place to go to. It’s on the sandy side of the property. We enjoyed a complimentary afternoon tea and OH MY GOD, it was the best! Even though they did not have many Gluten free options, I still had so much fun! The winter glasshouse cafe is the spot if you want to get some summery photographs!

Service

What makes this hotel one of the best in Hua Hin is the exceptional service and friendly staff! The service was absolutely flawless. The entire butler team was always eager to help us with anything and everything we needed during our stay. It was a complete delight. One of the cutest things was that no matter what time of the day, you’ll always be greeted with a genuine bright smile!

If you wanna experience the perfect beach getaway away from the city crowd in Thailand, this is the place for you! If you are looking for a package booking with amazing inclusions, I would suggest booking through Luxury escapes!
